Because of the, ahem, "snowstorm" last weekend, the RAW showcase that I am participating in was postponed, to this upcoming Sunday, March 3rd. So if one reason you couldn't go this past weekend was due to other events/plans, you're in luck, you get another chance:
I've been successful thus far in sketching every day in the book that I bought for that purpose, starting on January 1st. I may not always know what the hell is coming out of my mind - nothing new there - but the point is to get it down on paper. And who knows where it can go from there.

:lion chaser:
I'm publishing a day early for the final reminder to buy tickets, if you're going, to the RAW showcase I'm taking part in this upcoming Sunday, Feb. 24th, before Midnight tomorrow night (the 20th). To be frank I'm pestering you about it because I have to pay for any unsold tickets and I'd rather not. Plus it'd be nice to see you there, of course.

Since 2007 I've been going to Boston's Chinatown for their New Year's celebration and photographing the lion dancers. This year was no exception, even though it was snowing. There comes a point during it all that I don't even think of them as people in costumes, more like actual creatures.

:framed:
One thing I'm learning with each gallery show I participate in is that it's not just the art but the presentation. Before I'd be content to display the art in a simple glass frame. Now I buy actual frames, because beside making it look better on a wall, it also means that if somebody buys the artwork they won't have to also buy a frame for it. I noticed that in the last show I was in ( still going on here ) that even with a frame but no mats within the frame, my pictures stood out, and not necessarily in a good way. I just liked to have the images as large as possible so I would print on an entire 8 1/2" x 11" sheet ( as that's the largest I can do on my printer ). So now I'm using frames AND mats, especially for the upcoming RAW show, for which tickets are still available, until Feb. 21st.
I do try to make the framing as unique as I can, when possible. I think it's helped sell a few pieces in the past.

Except for the framing, it's finished! She may want your brains, but she'll give you her heart:
I'm still sticking to traditional media as of late, it seems. I was considering doing some digital tweaking - it could still happen - but on the whole I think it's good as it is right now.

Another reminder and request for you to join me at the Raw Natural Artists Boston Showcase on Feb. 24th! If you do decide to go, please purchase ticket(s) through the link below before Feb. 21st and be sure to select my name in the dropdown menu for which artist you are supporting. That would be me.
